Etched Glass
We’ve supplied homes in Georgia with bespoke etched glass ever since we were first established in 1994. We create all of our glass to order so we can create glass to suit your home perfectly.
What designs do we offer?
Within our etched glass gallery, you’ll discover a vast array of designs, from elegant etched house names and numbers to traditional Victorian etched designs. A favorite of our Georgia clients is our Shadows of Nature collection, where we capture the beauty of the natural world in etched glass panels. We also have a range of etched designs inspired by designers Frank Lloyd Wright and Charles Rennie Mackintosh. These are just a few highlights from our etched glass gallery, so whether you’re searching for something modern, traditional, or a little more unique, you’re sure to find the ideal glass for your Georgia home.
We also offer the option to create custom designs using your own artwork or imagery. We have a guide to help you determine what images are suitable for etching.

Proofing process
Once an order is placed, a proof of your selected design in your specific dimensions will be sent to you via email, typically within 5 business days. This is done for all orders, regardless of whether a proof is requested, to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
Once you’ve reviewed your proof, you can either approve it and we’ll move forward with production, or request revisions such as resizing, font modifications, or color changes. We’ll only begin production once you’re 100% happy with the design and give us your approval.
We offer free delivery on almost all etched glass panels supplied by our decorative glass studio to homes throughout Georgia and the USA. We also supply fused glass to Georgia.

About Etched Glass
With roots tracing back to the 15th century, etched glass is one of the oldest forms of decorative glass. The manufacturing process has evolved over time, allowing for more intricate designs, and this has likely contributed to its growing popularity. The process of creating etched glass today typically involves using an abrasive or acidic substance to etch a design onto a glass panel.

How do we etch glass?
When creating etched glass, we use the abrasive-blasting technique, commonly known as sandblasting. This technique is used for a number of reasons:
- It ensures our etched glass finish is consistent and of the highest quality.
- It enables us to offer a wide variety of highly detailed designs and even completely bespoke designs to our clients.
- It allows more light to transmit through to the home than alternatives like acid etched glass.
- It avoids the health and safety issues associated with using hazardous acid to etch glass.
Our Process
We begin by creating a bespoke mask that is overlaid on the surface of the glass that will be etched. This mask protects the areas of the glass that we don’t want to be etched. Then, the glass is placed in a sandblasting chamber and bombarded with high-speed pressurized abrasive substance. After the panel’s surface has been fully etched, we remove the temporary mask, revealing the clear, un-etched sections of the design. For single glazed glass, we apply a protective sandblast coating to the etched side of the panel to prevent fingerprints. Double glazed panels do not require this coating as the etched side of the panel is enclosed within the double glazed unit.
Perfection
Quality Redefined
What to avoid when buying etched glass
Many companies advertise “etched glass,” but they actually use vinyl stickers with an etched-like appearance, not true etching. These stickers can deteriorate and change color when exposed to sunlight, resulting in a yellowish appearance. Additionally, if a company offers “etched glass effect” panels through screen-printing, be aware that they may also experience discoloration over time.
We produce etched glass panels the right way, sandblasting them to achieve a high-quality, permanent etched finish. To prevent disappointment, it is essential to ensure that you are investing in a quality sandblasted, etched glass product. Information on the problems that can occur with counterfeit etched glass can be found here.
House Names and Numbers
Etched glass house names and numbers are a popular choice among our Georgia clients for transom windows, and it’s not hard to see why. The finish is excellent and it can instantly enhance the entryway of a property, adding a highly desired touch of elegance. Our glass artists produce hundreds of these panels every year for customers worldwide.
Many homes in the Georgia area feature a glass panel above their doors, known as a transom window, which can be the perfect location to showcase an etched house name or number. Our collection of house names and numbers can be browsed to find the ideal design to complement your home. Additionally, matching door or side panels can also be created upon request.
Again, prior to production, we will provide you with a mock-up of how the finished panel(s) will look with your selected font and border (if applicable) to make certain that you are happy with your design choices.

Our customers say
The four panels were so carefully packed and the dimensions were to the millimetre of our requirements. The result has absolutely transformed our hallway but has retained our lovely old door. Absolutely wonderful service. Great communication and advice. The product is real quality and will no doubt last for years. Thank you so much.

We have been so pleased with the lovely window created by Leadbitter Glass for our lounge door. We wanted a traditional etched pattern to reflect our Edwardian house. They perfectly matched our existing glass. The service was excellent: the company responded speedily to all our queries and shared draft designs with us to ensure we were happy with the final pane. Within days of agreeing the design, the window was dispatched to us and fitted our door perfectly.

We were absolutely delighted with all aspects of our dealings with Leadbitter Glass. We wanted a negative etched tree spreading across our front door and adjacent panels. With plenty of clear and precise advice from Leadbitter Glass we were able to make our own image work exactly as intended. The glass was produced on time, exactly as defined. We couldn't be happier with the result.

I had two etched glass panels made for our bathroom door with bespoke images. The glass was made exactly to our requirements. Excellent service and attention to detail. Kept fully up to date with progress and delivery date. I was concerned about delivery as we've received damaged goods from other suppliers in the past but I needn’t have worried as the glass came well packed. Really happy with the finished product. I would definitely recommend to friends and family.

Excellent customer service and product quality is first class. It was a pleasure doing business with Leadbitter Glass. Our order wasn't large by any means, but I still felt it was as important an order to them as it was to us.

Excellent service. Francis quickly developed my draft sketch into a finalised proposal for the etched glass panels for the new doors at our Church and made the etched glass panels within a matter of few days, enabling us to start the works as planned. The packaging of the glass panels was also superb to prevent possible damage in transit. Highly recommended.

Best result you could wish for. We are so pleased we found Leadbitter Glass which we did on an internet search. I had tried locally but no one seemed to have the expertise or vision that we hoped for. Superbly packed with communication about delivery and advise on unpacking. Project complete and we have just the best front door. A great experience.
Mary H.
I have just received my glass door panel and it is absolutely beautiful. This is the second piece of glass artwork I have ordered from Leadbitter Glass and both times the service, attention to detail, and just general helpfulness has been second to none. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.
