Mackintosh
Door & Side Panels |
|
In
September 2010 a client approached us to create a Mackintosh
door set based on this photo on the right .
The client emailed us the image and on close inspection
of the
image it looked like the glass was not a leaded design
but just a screen printed glass design and we do not
manufacture that product.
We created a small sample of
how we could replicate the specific design using our
overlay colour films and Ebony coloured 4.5mm lead. The
client checked out the sample and was really pleased
with how similar it looked so a full order was then placed. Before
we created all of the glass we created a computer
generated image of the door glass and uploaded it
to our Client Pages section for the client to approve. After
a few alterations and adjustments to the design the client
was happy and we got to work on the door glass set.
We created the dark lines using lead strip that was pre-coloured
with an Ebony coloured coating which appeared almost
jet black. The long stripes in the glass design were
left clear as was some of
the small
square sections. Two of the squares on each panel were
coloured dark red and the rest of the design was overlayed
with a sandblast film taken from this
page (texture 751). All of the overlay films were
encapsulated inside of the sealed unit to protect them.
The
double glazed sealed units were made using toughened
Pilkington
K glass
and
all
of the units were Argon gas filled to help conserve energy
in the home.
