In late 2011 the Leadbitter Glass studio was approached by Green Twig films from Shepperton Studios to create an intricate sandblasted glass design for 10 mirrors and one door for the new Keira Knightley movie - Anna Karenina. The movie is due for release in 2012.
The art department for the movie contacted the Leadbitter Glass Studio and asked if we could create a very intricate border design around 10 of their own mirrors for a new film that was currently shooting in England and Russia. The artwork for the glass was emailed to us and we informed the film studio that this small detailed work would not be a problem for our glass artists. The mirrors arrived at our glass studio a few days later and all 10 mirrors were sandblasted and back on set within a few days.
Some of the detailed aspects of the designs were under 1mm in size and the mirrors and door glass were being created for scenes to be shot on a Russian train in the film. A small glass panel was also created for the door of the train in the movie with the same border from the mirrors.
Anna Karenina is set for a worldwide release in 2012
